I just finished dl'ing all of these from demonoid, and I have to say, these sound like listening to a live band, real good dynamics, crisp highs and punchy lows. I cant get over how good some of these sound. Grab them quick before Simmons issues a cease and desist and sends us all invoices in the mail to pay in full...his Mom needs a new house.

Because of that, I'd even hazzard a guess that these transferrs are from old pre-mastering 2 track mixdown reels that were pre-emphasized for using to cut metal masters for LP record albums.

You might be close to the truth here. I noticed one user on Demonoid reached a similar conclusion and inquired the seeder about such.

(Also, moved this thread to Friends.)

I bought Ace's solo LP the day it was released... I also have it on CD, and I have the 97 remaster... but I don't ever remember hearing that weird 'Fractured Mirror/Ace's cackle' mix that was included in the 2008 remaster torrent.

BTW, this whole excursion will be worthless unless the dude posts a 2008 remaster of 'Unmasked'!

I didnt see any smiley faces so I assume you are serious. Are you serious? :D

Perhaps we would indeed benefit from a 2008 crystal clear uncompressed version of "She's so European!!"

I shouldnt talk...I am waiting for this guy to post the 2008 remaster of The Elder.......

Serious as a heart attack.
Great tracks like 'Easy As It Seems' and 'Naked City'
This was KISS at its artistic peak.

I clicked on the Ace Frehley torrent window which I had still open, refreshed it and appeared the following statement:

"THE TORRENT YOU REQUESTED WAS DELETED BY IT'S OWNER OR A MODERATOR."

looks like Gene Simmons got to know about those torrents...

I must have caught the takedown as it was happening. I was just about to post that at least Alive was still up, but now I just had another look and that is no longer the case. However, I would be happy to <cough> make them available <cough> if we have enough interest. I have yet to listen to any myself, but did get what was posted.

I got everything up to Love Gun (1977). Everything after that, I missed #-o . It'd be awesome if someone could make them available. You've got interest from me!

You might be close to the truth here. I noticed one user on Demonoid reached a similar conclusion and inquired the seeder about such.

Now that I am looking at the folders I noticed he was including the artwork for the original record releases, so I assume this was the case?

Also, some other guy:
Quote:
... there a lot of debate going on, speculating what the sources of AnalogisKing's '2008 remasters' are. If anybody is thinking that those are straight from analog sources, they're not. There's a few instances where anybody can hear conversion artifact's in these that prove they're not. How these small issues ended up in those files isn't clear but I personally think that the masters used are the same masters that were being used for both the initial 80s PolyGram CD pressings as well as the '98 japanese vinylsbox.

Now in most of the 80s PolyGram CD pressings there's a lot of diginoise and other deformities in the signal best recognisable if you hear the tracks 'She' with Ace's solo on 'Alive!' as well as 'Love Gun' on 'Alive II'. If you hear those versions (and all pressings excluding the japanese were affected by this to my knowledge) one could wonder how in the world such ugly imperfections could get past qualitycontrol and on this scale. But I believe that the masters for those releases were the first A/D conversions (and possible the only one so far), that were done and were just the same one's that were used for the japanese market, but somehow in the further processing path that leads to the actual pressings these problems occurred.
There is a theory on why these new '2008 analog source' remasters sound this good and probably stem from those same masters that the earlier mentioned pressings all were manufactured with but I'm not going into that right now. There's other 'specialised' communities where this is being discussed widely. I do have my theory and it's like somebody else pointed out before; If this guy had access to analog sources preceeding the digital transfers done in the 80s, he would have probably never posted those here and he would probably have been more detailed about the lineage of his work.
That doesn't erase the fact that I feel his versions are the best sounding I have ever heard. It's just done with much care, dedication and some common sense which you simply can't say about the process that brought us the 80s PolyGram CDs. And I do feel that the Universal '97 remasters are not that great (although superior to the PolyGram issues) but somehow they sound doctored or tinkered to me. Some however do sound better than the others. But it's still a personal taste matter. In a purity point of view I think they suck mostly.

Why don't you offer the guy a safe haven to post the rest of his remasters?
You can promise him no one will bug him about his sources (at least until all his KISS shit is posted).
Come on J, I bet you are just as anxious as I am to hear the Kiss Dynasty Remaster.
It was right there... right there... we were thisclose... :sigh:

Is "safe haven" an issue? Perhaps he just called it a day, who knows?

Edit: what the hell, now even the torrent I took that "some other guy" quote from has disappeared. Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.

I wonder if lawyers representing Mr Simmons and Stanley had anything to do with this?
I'm with Mr Walker finally, we needed Dynasty in this 2008 quality!
